About the Vasari Corridor editorial desk
We are a small independent editorial desk. We write about one thing: the Corridoio Vasariano in Florence, and the ways you can book it. We are not the Uffizi Galleries, we are not a tour operator, and we do not sell tickets. Why this site exists
Almost everything written in English about the Vasari Corridor describes a place that is no longer there. From 1973 to 2016 the passage held the Uffizi’s self-portrait collection, and that is the corridor in the guidebooks: a cramped picture gallery seen on a rare private visit. The paintings left. Since 2023 they have had twelve permanent rooms inside the gallery, and the corridor reopened on 21 December 2024 stripped back to what the museum calls its original bareness. Anyone can book it now. What visitors need is not more adjectives but an honest account of what has changed and which format suits them, which is what our guide and our verdict page are for.
Who writes it
The desk, collectively. We publish under the masthead rather than under a name, and we would rather say that plainly than invent a photogenic local expert who moved to Florence in some particular year. There is no such person here. What there is: people who read the Uffizi Galleries’ own published material, read the operators’ booking terms line by line, read the traveller reviews on GetYourGuide, and write down what those three sources actually say, including where they disagree.
Four things we will not do
We will not print a price. Prices, star ratings, review counts and availability change constantly on GetYourGuide, and a figure typed into a page in August is a lie by October. We point at the live element instead, so the number you see is the number you pay. The mechanics of what you are buying are set out in what it costs, without a single figure we cannot keep current.
We will not invent a person. No fabricated byline, no fabricated backstory, no stock portrait with an Italian first name under it.
We will not pretend to be the museum. The Uffizi Galleries run the corridor and set its rules. Their official page is at uffizi.it and we send readers there for anything authoritative: opening times, photography, cloakroom policy, the current condition of the visit.
We will not sell you an upgrade you do not need. A guide is worth paying for in the Uffizi and is a matter of taste in the corridor, and we say so even on the pages where a more expensive booking would earn us more.
How we keep the practical detail current
Three habits. Anything historical or structural, we take from the Uffizi Galleries and name the source, which is why the corridor is described here as more than seven hundred metres rather than the round kilometre you will read elsewhere. Anything commercial, we delegate to the live GetYourGuide widget rather than transcribing it. Anything a product promises, including accessibility, we tell you to confirm on the booking page, because operators change their terms and we are not party to them. Our accessibility page is written that way deliberately.

Because there is no single author. A small desk researches and writes these pages together, and putting an invented name and portrait on them would be a marketing decision dressed as an editorial one. The publisher of record is the desk itself, and that is what our structured data says.
